Yang finally left from work at 6:30 p.m. after another extended work day. He sighed in relief and rubbed his temples with his fingers as he walked out of the building, glad to finally be out of that hellhole for the day. He wished that he could have the whole week off, but he was lucky enough to have had yesterday off in the first place.
He reached into his pocket to find his pack of cigarettes and his lighter, but his fingers brushed upon something completely different. He pulled a small slip of paper out of his pocket, the same slip of paper upon which (Name) had written her cell phone number. “I completely forgot about this thing…” he mumbled to himself.
He continued walking as he held an inner debate as to whether or not he should put her number into his phone until he finally decided to give in. He grunted and pulled his cell phone out of his pocket, copying the number into his phone. “It’s not like she’d be that interested in talking to me anyway,” he muttered. He stuffed the slip of paper and his cell phone back into his pocket and took his lighter out, retrieving a cigarette from the box and lighting it up.
Yang inhaled and exhaled the smoke as he started walking towards his house. He closed his eyes for what felt like only a second before he ended up abruptly walking into someone else. “I’m sorry!” They said simultaneously as they backed away from each other. He felt his breath catch in his throat as he finally registered who he had ended up running into. “(N-Name)?”
“O-oh, Yang!” (Name) said, giving him a soft smile as she attempted to compose herself. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to bump into you. I was rushing to work and I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going.”
“No it’s alright,” Yang said, holding his hands up in surrender. “No harm done.” He discarded his burned out cigarette on the ground and jammed his hands into his pocket. “So I’m guessing you decided to keep the job after all.”
“I did, actually,” (Name) said. “Hopefully nothing else will be as bad as my first day. Are you headed to the restaurant right now?”
“Nope, not tonight. I’ve already been there two nights in a row. I think I’ll just cook my own meal tonight.”
“I see,” (Name) said. Yang could’ve sworn he detected the slightest hint of disappointment, but that was probably his imagination speaking. “Well, maybe tomorrow we can try something different. My uncle is giving me weekends off to focus on my school work and other things, so maybe we could go to another restaurant in town and see what it’s like there? It could be fun to try something new out.”
Yang’s face turned a deep shade of red, but his response came out before he had the time to stop it. “Sure, whatever you like.”
“Great,” (Name) said, smiling brightly. “You can text me the information whenever you figure out where you want to go. My uncle did give you my cell phone number, right?”
“R-right but-”
“Then if you have work tomorrow, then maybe we can find a time after you get off?” (Name) started to blushed and quickly averted her eyes. “I-I’m sorry if I’m sounding a bit pushy… I just wanted to repay you for saving me.” She stood there, shuffling her feet and bringing herself to look up to him again. “I know it sounds like no big deal, but it means a lot to me.”
Yang sighed and rubbed the back of his head awkwardly. “You don’t have to do all of this just for me, you know.”
“I-it’s not like I don’t want to!” (Name) stammered. “I really do want to. It’s the least I could do for you. Just.. At least consider it, alright?”
Yang pondered over an answer for a moment before shrugging, keeping his eyes averted. “Fine… I’ll consider it if you really want to go through with this.”
(Name) sighed in relief and let herself relax a little. “Thank you.” (Name)’s facial expression turned from relief to panic very quickly when she realized she was supposed to be on the way to work. “I-I’m gonna be late! I’ll see you later!” (Name) waved goodbye to him and sprinted off in the direction of the restaurant.
Yang just stood there, practically glued to the same spot with a blank expression on his face. “What did I just get myself into?”
~~~~~~~~
Yang finally got back to his house after that whole ordeal, and he was still trying to figure out what really just happened. “Did (Name) just ask me out on a date?” he muttered to himself before shaking his head. “No no no, she just wanted to pay me back for helping her out, that’s all.” He grunted and ruffled his hair, trying to stop worrying so much about it.
He plopped onto his bed and opened his barely used laptop, finding himself searching for local restaurants and diners. “Seriously, what did I just get myself into?” he asked himself again as he scanned through the multiple search pages. “This one looks decent,” he said, clicking on the image of a quaint diner. “This place is only a few blocks away from where I work, too. How convenient.”
Yang wrote the information of the diner down on a piece of paper and shut the laptop down, discarding it on the floor next to his bed. He changed into a pair of comfortable pajamas and buried himself under the bed sheets, making an attempt to drift into slumber despite the many different thoughts spinning around his mind.
Allen came by every day bringing you food. He always asked for a kiss on the cheek and you always obliged seeing no harm in just a little peck.
“Allen, how is Mathew doing?” You asked, you have been wondering about your friend and it worried you to leave him alone.
Allen would bring paper and charcoal with him too, incase he needed to say something he couldn’t use body language for. “Good.” He wrote on the paper. “Can I ask you something?” He wrote.
“Of course you can.” You said after you read the words. “What is it?”
“What is your name?
You felt sick, though it wasn’t the swaying of the ship for you had your sea legs perfectly developed from the years you spent on your Uncle’s ship. The sickness you felt was worry, fear, hunger, dehydration, and depression.
You had only been on the Pirate ship for a day. All your articles taken from you by force. ‘The map…’ you couldn’t stop thinking about the map. The pirates took your satchel, gun, coat, and sword from you. Leaving you in the brig. Caged like an animal.
Heavy boot steps echoed in the room. Chains rattled as a hand swiped across them. You shuttered at t
Thankfully, I was able to have enough motivation to write this chapter today and submit it for you guys, so here it goes :3 Sorry if it seems a little short, but I'm feeling drained of energy after the sudden burst of motivationplus the lack of sleep isn't helping much
