I'll Defend You (2p!Prussia X Reader) ~Gift~

(Name) sighed and pounded her alarm clock relentlessly, trying to shut it off. “Shut the hell up…” she mumbled as she finally pounded the snooze button down. “Great, now I have to get up and go to work…” she sighed and pulled herself out of bed, accidentally shoving her cat, Rusty, off of her foot. “Huh? Oh~ I’m sorry, buddy.” She reached over and softly scratched his ears, causing him to purr and rub his head against her hand.

She yawned and stretched her arms in the air. She trudged over to her dresser and while trying to rub the sleep from her eyes. She grabbed her hair brush and started brushing through her (h/l), (h/c) hair to get the tangles out of it before putting it up in a bun. She searched through her drawers and took her waitress uniform and her favorite jacket out of them.

She took her uniform and jacket to the bathroom and changed out of her pajamas and into her uniform, then put her jacket on over her uniform. She groggily brushed her teeth and washed her face. She was steadily starting to wake up more, but that still didn’t change the fact that she wanted to go back to bed. Oh well, there wasn’t much that she could do about it except go to work and wait until it was time to go back home.

(Name) left the bathroom and filled both of her cats’ food and water bowls up, along with her new Black Labrador puppy’s bowls. She rubbed Rusty’s head and gently kissed his nose. “I’ll see you when I get home, buddy. Watch out for Flossy, and make sure Gwendol doesn’t get into any trouble.”

She got a meow in response before watching Rusty jump out through her window and land on his favorite perch outside, curling up and falling asleep again. (Name) smiled softly before closing her window. “Lazy ass cat. You’re lucky you get to go back to sleep.” She grabbed her headphones, mp3 player, and wallet from the dresser.

(Name) hooked her headphones up to her mp3 player and put her headphones on over her ears, blaring the music as she walked out of the house. She stopped in front of the fence and waited for Gwendol to come running up to her. Sure enough, she saw the small, black ball of fur come running up to her. He jumped up excitedly and licked her hand. She rubbed his head and kissed his little wet nose, receiving a pleased bark in response. “I’ll be home later, sweetie. Behave and don’t give Rusty or Flossy a hard time, alright?” Gwendol barked and licked her hand even more. “Good boy. I’ll see you later, okay?” Gwendol barked some more and watched (Name) as she walked away and down the street to head to work.

Honestly, she wasn’t looking forward to going to work today. Especially if that group of jocks and preppy girls from yesterday decided to show up again. They didn’t really cause her any trouble, other than the fact that they were completely rude and disrespectful to everyone they were around. They were not the kind of problem that she wanted to deal with after yesterday.

Oh well, she just wouldn’t be bothered with them. If they caused any problems, then she would just get the manager to kick them out or something. At least her friends from high school, Gillen and Lutz, said they would come and visit her at the diner today. She hasn’t seen them in a while though. She wondered if they were still the same guys she knew from high school, personality-wise. Either way, she would be glad to see them after all this time.

She cut off her mp3 player and took her headphones off as she entered the diner that she worked at. It was normally a quiet little place where everyone just came to make small talk or something like that, so she kind of enjoyed working there. The people that came in there weren’t too bad either; well aside from that group from yesterday. That was the only real trouble they had, though.

“Hey, (Name)!” Her manager said upon her arrival. “Go ahead and clock in and start washing the tables while I make the coffee.”

“Alright!” she called back to him and started to head to the back. She took her jacket up and put it away along with her headphones and mp3 player and clocked into work. She went to the closet and found the cleaning materials, taking them and heading out to the front to start her work day.

It was nearly 12:30 in the afternoon when things started getting busy. Customers were starting to crowd in for their lunch break, which meant that (Name) had to start moving faster to get orders filled and tables cleaned once the customers who were finished left. Things would probably keep on like this until about 1:00, and then she would finally be able to go home at 2:30.

She was working on cleaning another table while the bell rang to signal new customers. She turned to the door and put on her best smile. “Welcome to our diner!” she said, and then her eyes lit up when she saw who it was that came through the door. “Gil! Lutz!”

“Hey, (Name),” Lutz said. “Long time no see. Are you still allergic to hugs or what?”

“Yeah, normally I am,” she said, a wide grin forming on her face. “But I’ll make an exception just this once.” She went over to them and hugged them both tight. Lutz and Gillen hugged her back, although Gillen was a little bit more awkward about it. She pulled back and smiled up at them. “Come on, I’ll show you to your table. She turned around and led them both to their table, setting down the menus on the table and taking out her notepad. “What do you two want to drink? Like I even have to ask.”

“Beer,” they said simultaneously.

(Name) rolled her eyes playfully and shook her head at them. “I should’ve known. I’ll be back with your order in a couple of minutes.” (Name) went to the back and put the order in to the kitchen staff, along with a couple of sausage biscuits that she decided to pay for to surprise them with. She went back to the front and went to welcome the new customers coming in, only to be faced with the group of preps from the day before. “Just great,” she mumbled to herself while plastering a smile onto her face. “Welcome to our diner.”

One of the lead guys snickered and walked past her as if she didn’t exist at all. “Assholes…” She muttered as the group moved past her to seat themselves. Part of her job required that she was to be a pleasant person towards the customers, but it was an even more difficult task right now since she had to deal with people like this. She sighed before she walked to the booth that they had taken up. “What would you all like to drink?” she said.

“Why don’t you whip up some coffee for all of us, babe?” One guy said with a cocky smirk on his face.

Gillen’s eye twitched hearing what was being said to (Name). He remembered (Name) telling them about a group of people who were a pain to deal with, and this must have been the people she was talking about. How was she able to deal with them with such a calm attitude? He was a pacifist and he still wanted to knock the living daylights out of them because of the way they were treating her.

(Name) kept the smile plastered on her face while she was screaming internally and wanting to punch the guy’s face in. “Sure, coming right up.” (Name) turned around and started working the coffee maker.

Another one of the guys hunched over the table and started over at (Name) while whispering to the other guys. “Check the ass on that chick,” he said. The other guys started snickering and started checking (Name) out as well.

Gillen pounded on the table and bolted up from his seat. The whole diner went completely silent, especially Lutz and (Name) who was even more surprised at Gillen’s sudden outburst. He trudged over to their table and lifted the guy up by the collar of his shirt. “Shut the hell up!” He yelled in his face. “All of you are a bunch of assholes and you all need to grow up and stop being such dicks towards women.” He tightened his grip on his shirt and stared dead into his eyes. “And if I ever catch you laying your eyes or you hands on (Name), then I’ll have to call the cops on myself to before I end up beating you senseless into the ground!”

(Name) turned the coffee maker off and rushed over to Gillen, pulling him away by his arm and leading him out of the restaurant.  “Get a hold of yourself, Gil!”

“Remember what I said, asshole!” he yelled from the door before he went outside of the diner with (Name). He sighed and started to force himself to calm his temper. “I’m sorry for flipping out in there, (Name). I just didn’t like the way they were treating you or staring at you. I know I’m not normally like that, but something inside of me just snapped and I just got angry.”

“It’s alright, Gil,” she said. “At least no one got hurt. It was just surprising to see you like that.” (Name) hugged him gently, and he awkwardly hugged her back. “But thank you for doing what you did. Someone needed to put them in their place, and I’m proud that it was you of all people.”

Gillen pulled back and rubbed the back of his head. “Don’t worry about it. You know more than anyone else that I’m not a fighter or anything, but you also know that you’re one of my best friends, and I’ll defend you no matter what.”

(Name) smiled softly up at him. “I know, and you know I’d do the same for you any day of the week.” She stood up on the tip of her toes and planted a gentle kiss on his cheek. “Thanks again for helping me, Gil. I appreciate it.”

Gillen’s face turned a bright shade of red and he turned his head to the side to hide his face. “S-sure, no problem! Any time! L-let’s go back inside, okay?”

“Of course.” (Name) snickered softly at Gillen’s shy reaction. Yep, he was still the same awkward guy she knew and cared for; that much was obvious.
